Fitness Tip | WEIGHTLIFTING & PAIN DON'T MIX
Weightlifting isn't an easy feat for we need to actively use our muscles and concentrate to get the most out of our weightlifting routine. Although "feeling the grind" and being sore after a workout is normal, some people don't think they're getting a quality workout if their muscles don't hurt.
However, this is not just untrue but also potentially dangerous. Never work through pain – if you experience this, reduce your workload or finish the workout session early. Feeling sharp, shooting or significant pain during weightlifting means your muscle is being overworked. If you don't slow down now, you could risk a muscle tear or strain.
To reduce this pain, try slowing down the intensity of the workout. If the pain still persists, or gets worse, stop exercising immediately and use the R.I.C.E. method to treat the pain, followed by plenty of rest. If the pain still hasn’t gone after a few days it's time to see a sports injury specialist.
