Fitness Tip | STRENGTHEN YOUR BONES
Although bone density can be improved by eating a healthy, calcium-rich diet, weight-bearing exercise also helps to strengthen your bones.
Weight-bearing exercises, such as weightlifting, jogging, hiking or stair climbing, increases bone density by applying stress on the muscle, which in turn pulls on the bone it's attached to. This stimulates the bone, making it more solid and less susceptible to fractures.
To stimulate this growth, engage in regular weight-bearing exercise. It doesn't have to be intense, but it should get your heart pumping. Jogging or hiking are great weight-bearing exercises, as well as resistance training, circuit training and even dancing!
