Fitness Tip | PREVENT ATHLETE'S FOOT
When it comes to exercise, taking proper care of your feet is essential. Tinea Pedis, which is better known as Athlete's Foot, is a fungal infection that is an entirely preventable condition caused by wearing tight, damp shoes.
Therefore, to prevent Athlete's Foot, follow these simple tips:-
- Wear shoes made from natural materials and try to avoid foot contact from vinyl, rubber or plastic.
- Spray an antifungal powder on your feet prior to shoe wearing, which will help keep your feet dry, thus preventing infection.
- Wear socks made out of cotton or wool, which help draw moisture away from the feet.
- Never wear damp shoes or socks, which will increase your risk of developing Athlete's foot.
- Don’t go barefoot in public places such as shared bathrooms, pool areas or exercise gyms as the fungus spreads through person-to-person or surface-to-person contact.
Following these tips - and ensuring your feet are dry at all times - can help you to avoid a potentially itchy situation.
