Fitness Tip | IT'S ALL IN THE GENES
If you're following an exercise programme to increase your lean muscle mass, but haven’t obtained the results you were hoping for, it may be down to your genetics.
Studies suggest that genetics play a crucial role in how your body responds to specific types of exercise. Varying body types also respond differently to exercise, and so may not bulk up immediately.
However, this doesn't mean you should quit exercising though. Changing your workout routine should encourage your body to adapt to this new stimulus, which could improve your ability to build lean muscle more easily.
But if your body still doesn't look the way you’d like it to, there are still many hidden benefits to be gained from exercise, including a reduced risk for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke and high blood pressure. So keep at it!
