Fitness Tips | GET SERIOUSLY FIT...MMA STYLE!
There aren't many Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters who are not in fabulous shape - if any at all. Being able to win bouts requires plenty of strength and stamina, excellent technical skill, and the ability to defend yourself with a variety of adapted martial arts moves.
But MMA isn't just about fighting. It also tests your body's limits by helping it to learn a multitude of moves adapted from combative activities such as Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, SAMBO, wrestling and kickboxing. And with a typical MMA session lasting anything up to three hours, there are thousands of calories which are burned off.
MMA gyms are available throughout the UK, including Titan Fighter, London Fight Factory and The Griphouse MMA. Some gyms also hold seminars hosted by top MMA fighters, including Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping.
Yet if MMA sounds a bit dramatic for you, try incorporating some boxing exercises and techniques into your workout routine to take you to a new level of fitness. This can be done simply with some sparring gloves and a punch bag. Alternatively, you could work with a personal trainer, who can be the substitute punch bag...which is much more fun!
