
Is it possible to spot reduce belly fat? Unfortunately not - in fact, it's impossible to spot reduce any area, including the midsection. To eliminate body fat, you need to work your entire body, incorporating aerobic and weightlifting exercises to promote fat loss.
To optimize your body's fat-burning potential, follow these three tips:
- Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet rich in whole grains, vegetables, fruits and lean meats. Avoid processed or sugary foods if possible, which contain unnecessary additives, such as sodium and high fructose corn syrup.
- Weight train two to three times a week. Include exercises that incorporate all of the major muscle groups, including the core.
- Get in 30 minutes of aerobic exercise at least three times a week. Jogging, kickboxing, running or aerobic dancing are all good workouts that will get your heart pumping.
It won't happen immediately, but if you stick to the above three points you should notice a difference in your body's composition within six to eight weeks.
