Fitness Tip | ALLEVIATE BACK PAIN WITH STRETCHING
Do you suffer from lower back pain? If so, you’re not alone as this debilitating condition affects many people due to our modern living habits.
For those suffering from back pain it can often be tempting to numb your back with painkillers. However, there's a more natural and effective solution - stretching.
Why? Well, like all parts of the body, the back is comprised of many muscles, ligaments and tendons – all of which benefit from gentle stretching or exercise. The stronger your back muscles are, the less likely you'll experience excruciating back pain.
To stretch effectively, start where the spine begins - the neck. Gently extend and roll your neck (forwards, never backwards) from shoulder to shoulder, using a slow and deliberate motion. Then move on to your shoulders, but this time roll them slightly forward in a circular manner. Use the same technique for your hips, slowly rotating them from left to right.
However, if you're still experiencing significant pain which isn't relieved by gentle stretching, it’s probably a good idea to see your doctor as it may be a more serious spine or back injury.
