Diet Tip | ZERO CALORIE FOODS
You've probably seen some diet or food products which are marketed as having a zero calorie status. However, although nutritional labels can legally lay claim to containing no calories, this isn't necessarily the truth.
Food manufacturers are technically allowed to state that a product has no calories if it contains a negligible amount of calories. Take mustard for instance. Although the label may claim it contains zero calories, mustard actually contains nearly 3 calories per serving. If you're dishing up multiple servings, these calories can soon add up.
Is this making you paranoid? Well, please don't be.
If you want to know how many calories there are in your "zero-calorie" food product, simply look it up online. There are loads of nutrition and diet websites which list the product's real calorific amount, with important additional information regarding its’ nutritional and not-so-nutritional content.
