Diet Tip | TURN OFF THE TELLY
It's no coincidence that obesity rates rose when television sets became the norm in UK households. The facts say it all - people who watch more than two hours of television per day are at a higher risk for obesity because it's a very sedentary activity, which encourages us to eat convenient foods, eat mindlessly and feel less motivated to exercise.
The majority of TV commercials also feature food or fast food restaurants, which tempts people to give into unhealthy eating habits.
Therefore, to help drop the weight and stay active, turn off the telly. Try engaging in fun, but non-sedentary activities, such as dancing, playing football or swimming. You'll burn more calories and feel great too – most energetic activities release brain chemicals called endorphins, which give us a natural high.
