Diet Tip | SWAP YOUR MAYO FOR AVOCADO
Slopping a spoonful of mayonnaise onto your sandwich may improve the flavour, but it's also extremely unhealthy. Just 28g of mayonnaise contains 10g of fat, which is mostly derived from saturated fat.
However, there is a delicious alternative. Spreading blenderised drops of fresh avocado can still satisfy the need to eat something creamy, without the addition of unhealthy saturated fats. Just 100g of puréed avocado contains only 2g of saturated fat and nearly 10g of monounsaturated fat - the healthy fat which actually reduces bad cholesterol levels, lowering your risk for heart disease. Unlike mayonnaise, avocados are also rich in fibre, potassium, and vitamins B, E and K.
Therefore, the next time you enjoy a healthy sandwich, consider adding a quick spread of avocado for a nutritional and heart-healthy boost.
