Diet Tip | PUMP UP YOUR SALAD
Many people are put off salads because most of them tend to be limp, lifeless and – quite frankly – bland. However, it doesn’t need to be like this. Next time you are pondering what you want for your lunch, try bulking up a salad with a handful of almonds, chickpeas and crushed red pepper flakes.
The almonds and chickpeas will add more substance to the salad, forcing you to chew longer...research shows that people naturally eat less when they chew more. Almonds and chickpeas are also nutrient dense, which helps to improve overall general health.
As for the red pepper flakes, they contain a chemical called capsaicin, which studies have indicated may have appetite-reducing properties. They are also spicy, which adds a kick to the salad. And like almonds and chickpeas, red pepper flakes are also full of nutrients, and are an excellent source of vitamin C.
