Although vegetable oil allows you to cook faster, it certainly isn’t the smartest choice for saving calories, as a typical 14g dollop of vegetable oil contains around 120 calories with 14g of fat!
To make things even worse, two of those grams come from saturated fat, which raises your blood pressure and increases your risk for heart disease or stroke.
Therefore, instead of frying your favourite foods with vegetable oil, simply use a stock cube. Unlike vegetable oil, you can cook with the same amount of liquid for a fraction of the calories - or 15 calories per cube.
Better yet, stock cubes contain a negligible amount of fat and are rich in vitamin K, which helps prevent artery calcification and bone loss. They also come in a variety of flavours, including beef, chicken or prawn to suit your individual tastes.
