Diet Tip | FIND THE SUGAR
Many food manufacturers claim that their products contain very little sugar, but unfortunately they’re not always telling the truth.
Food labels may use different terms to describe the sugar content in their products, often at the expense of the consumer's health.
Therefore, to find out if your favourite food contains hidden traces of sugar, look for these names on the nutrition label:-
- Dextrose
- Fructose
- Glucose
- Lactose
- Maltodextrin
- Sucrose
Even though these names may be different, essentially they all mean the same thing - refined sugar.
Furthermore, if one of these alternative names is listed near the top of the list it also indicates that sugar makes up a high percentage of the product, so beware!
