Fresh produce in the summer months isn't hard to come by but, once winter comes along, it's often as rare as a warm and sunny day in the UK. This can present you with two choices - canned or frozen vegetables.
So which one is the healthiest? Research shows frozen food is often the more nutritious choice, sometimes even more so than fresh vegetables. Canned vegetables are the worst because they go through a rigorous heating process to extend their shelf life in order to make them safe to eat. As a result, they lose much of their nutritional content.
Canned vegetables may also contain preservatives or syrups, which increases the sodium and sugar content. Therefore, do yourself a favour and can the canned veg!
Instead, opt for the more nutritious and healthy option - stock up on plenty of frozen vegetables.
