Diet Tip | BIN THE READY MEALS
Some ready meals claim to help trim your waistline without having to worry about portion size, which foods to eat, or how to correctly prepare your meal.
Although it may promote weight loss in the short term, ready meals are nutritionally deficient and packed full of bloat-inducing sodium, which is one of the main causes of high blood pressure (hypertension). Sometimes, saving time to diet isn't always worth it.
Instead of eating a ready meal, make tomorrow's lunch the evening before, or when time allows. Include lean meat, plenty of vegetables and whole grain products seasoned with spices - not salt - to increase its nutritional capacity.
Avoid frying any food and substitute stock cubes for a sprinkling of vegetable or canola oil. Your food will still taste fresh when you cook it the next day, free of any sodium-rich additives that may raise your blood pressure.
Better yet, home prepared meals usually contain less calories and fat making this the more intelligent choice for managing your weight.
