Diet Tip | BEAT CRAVINGS WITH THE 20 MIN RULE
Most of us consume the vast majority of our food in the evening, with a large number of calories coming from ‘after dinner nibbles’.
However, if you’ve enjoyed a balanced evening meal you’re body doesn’t actually need any further food such as dessert, nibbles etc...even though your taste buds may disagree!
So therefore, beat these late–in-the-day cravings by following the 20 minute rule. It tends to take approximately 20 minutes for your stomach to send a signal to your brain that you’re full, which is why many of us are often still hungry straight after eating dinner. By waiting twenty minutes after finishing your evening meal, you are giving your brain the time to realise you are full.
Another tip is to brush your teeth and to drink a glass of water after dinner. Cleaning your teeth will cleanse your taste buds, which are a driving force for cravings, and the water fills your stomach. Follow these tips and the chances are that you won’t be nearly as tempted to indulge in any post-dinner bites.
