Diet Tip | BE SLOW AND DELIBERATE
We go to great efforts to watch what we eat, but have you ever considered changing how you eat? A recent study claims chewing more helps women eat less, significantly reducing their caloric intake.
According to the study, which was reported by Times Online, women who chewed their pasta between 20 to 30 times per bite consumed 70 percent less calories.
Researchers believe chewing stimulates the brain nerves that tell your body that it's full, reducing the temptation to go for second servings. Chewing slowly also has other benefits, such as lowering the amount of air you swallow, which reduces painful bloating and gas.
But how do you know if you're chewing enough? Researchers recommend paying attention to how the food feels in your mouth. If it's mushy and has an almost water-like consistency, you've chewed enough. If not, chew more until it's too mushy to break down.
